Reset Service Light on BMW F800GT
When I purchased my F800GT off of craigslist the service light was on. The previous owner said that he did the oil changes himself and that the BMW dealership would charge $150+ to reset the light. He obviously didn’t want to pay that so he just left the light on and said it didn’t bother him.
I am not the huge fan of it so I decided to get a OBD reader to reset it myself. A friend reccomended the Hex Code GS-911 which is a bit pricey but I went ahead and purchased it. I figured after a couple uses it will have paid for itself anyways. I bought the GS-911wifi w/10 pin connector which is suitable for models through 2016. The device plugs into the port under the seat on the F800GT.
I liked that it had wifi and an Android app that I could connect to. Well I went ahead and tried it through the app but to no avail. I kept getting an error in the app when I tried to reset the code. Thankfully, the app also works over USB so I plugged it into my desktop, via a 32 foot long USB cable that I ran from the garage and through the window into my office. It worked great via USB and viola the service light was gone!
