Rain Barrel
A few weeks ago I bought a used rain barrel with a spigot already installed off of FB marketplace for only $25. I bought the EarthMinded Flexifit Universal Diverter System kit off of amazon to route the water from my downspout to the barrel. I liked the looks of this kit because it included everything I needed in cluding the saw hole drill bits.
Originally I was just going to put the barrel up on cinder blocks to get it elevated but they weren’t getting it particularly high, they didnt look good, and were difficult to level on the slope I was putting the barrel. So, I decided to build a stand of my own. I foud some instructions for building a simple one on theemerginghome.com and basically just followed what they did.
I had Home Depot cut the wood for me and got to work assembling. Building it wasn’t too hard–I used the right angle guides and the clamps to make sure it was pretty square. It’s probably not perfectly square in the end but it was close enough for me.
The first leg is attached.
Some more legs are attached.
The finished product!
A few days later I installed the diverter kit which was also pretty easy to install. Minus touching the saw hole blade with my bare hand after using it to drill a hole in my downspout and burning my hand on it!
The barrel is all setup and ready to go. But of course I finished this project up just in time for it to stop raining.
