Kawasaki Demo Days
Let The Good Times Roll!
The Kawasaki “Good Times” demo tour came to the Fay Myers dealership this weekend so I went down and did a couple demo rides.
It was pretty crowded and my time was limited so I was only able to get two rides in but they were both on bikes I was interested in so it was a fun time.
The first bike was a 2022 Z650rs:
This bike was a ton of fun to ride. It felt really light and nimble and had some nice pep to it. I really wanted to test ride the Z900rs but sadly didn’t have time so I can’t compare the two. I think this and the 900 are some of the best looking bikes out there right now and would seriously consider getting one in a few years used.
The next bike was a 2022 KLR650:
It couldn’t have been anymore different from the z650rs. It felt like the same old KLR to me. It was really tall compared to the z650, felt really buzzy especially in my knees when they were touching the tank. And, it was of course very utilitarian. One annoying thing about it was I kept accidentally shifting into neutral when shifting up from 1st to 2nd gear. And then, the one time I shifted to neutral at a red a light I couldn’t get it back into 1st! The rest of the group was riding away and I was sitting there hammering on the shifter trying to get it into 1st. I finally did and wasn’t left too far behind but it was certainly annoying.
I also think that paint job is pug fugly! I think I’d much rather have a 1st or 2nd gen KLR over this one.
All in all, it was a fun time and I appreciate Kawasaki coming to town and doing the demos. Hopefully next year I can try a few more bikes!
